Today as I was reading my Bible a verse popped out at me in a new way.

Normally when we read this verse we tend to focus on the fact that God can do more than we can even think or imagine. He can do more than we would ever think to ask for. This is true! God is able to do so much more than we can even begin to imagine for us, but there is more to this verse.

Look at the second part. How is He going to do do more than we can imagine? According to His power that is at work within us! What stood out to me is not what God can do for us, but what He can do in and through us because of His power living in us —the Holy Spirit.

This verse is about more than God granting us our craziest dreams—He is not our genie in a bottle–He is God and He is all powerful and that power lives in us as Spirit Filled, fire baptized, born again believers. This verse is telling us that when we press into the power at work in us and let that power work through us, God can use us in ways we never imagined! He can change the world through a surrender vessel willing to be used.

When we have a chance to pray for someone, speak into someone’s life, lay hands on someone and see God heal them, we often shy back afraid of what happens if doesn’t work. That is our weakness in the flesh! The power of God is in us waiting to work through us. It is God’s name on the line when we act in His name, not ours. We can trust His power at work in us, but will we?
