ALAIT Prayers: Embracing Patience and Endurance in Prayer

Unlocking the Power of ‘As Long As It Takes’ Prayers

Have you ever felt like your prayers are getting snagged in a traffic jam, waiting endlessly for God’s answer? What if I told you there’s a powerful approach to prayer that transforms waiting into a profound journey of faith? Today, we’re unlocking the secret to ‘As Long As It Takes’ prayers—an invitation to pray through, persevere, and discover the beauty when we wait for God’s perfect timing.

Today, we’re diving into a topic that speaks to a lot of us in this instant gratification era—prayer. Specifically, we are looking at what I and many others call ‘As Long As It Takes’ prayers, or ALAIT for short. You might be wondering how this differs from our typical ‘ASAP’ prayers.

We live in a world where most of us utter ASAP prayers. You know the ones—‘God, answer me NOW!’ But my friend, let me introduce you to Mark Batterson’s concept: ALAIT prayers—‘As Long As It Takes’ prayers. In simpler terms, they’re like what my generation would call ‘praying through.’ It’s about perseverance, persistence, and faith.

Imagine not stopping your prayers until you see God move. It’s more than just about getting an answer; it’s about the journey of deepening your relationship with God.

Sure, there’s a place for those quick ‘ASAP’ prayers, but we mustn’t forget the beauty of ALAIT prayers. This style of praying requires TIME and PATIENCE. Like in the story of Daniel, he prayed for three weeks before his answers became visible. But, wait for it—In Daniel 9:23, we learn that he was actually given his answer the moment he prayed! “But here’s the thing. There was a spiritual battle occurring in the heavenly realms, and his answer was delayed. Now, think about this—what if Daniel had given up? On day one? Or day five? His persistence brought forth his answer.

That’s a powerful lesson! Sometimes we need to push through the doubts and the wait times. It’s easy to feel frustrated when we don’t see immediate results, but that waiting period? It’s vital!”

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus shares a parable about a widow who wouldn’t quit asking for justice until she received it. (voice passionate) It’s a beautiful reminder not to give up, no matter how frustrating it seems. We need to embrace those long moments of waiting, knowing that God’s timing is far better than ours.

We live in a world that craves instant answers, but often, God has a much grander timeline for us. Through persistent prayers, we learn patience and endurance, deepening our faith in incredible ways. So keep pressing in—Keep praying through! Remember, your breakthrough is on the way.
