Surrendering to the Divine: A Journey of Total Faith

Romans 12:1 urges us, “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.” This profound verse invites us to contemplate surrendering every part of our lives to God, a theme beautifully captured in the song “Everything at Your Feet” by Mosaic Music.

But let’s face it—do you ever struggle with the idea of relinquishing control? If you’re anything like me, the answer is likely yes. While I don’t see myself as a control freak, I certainly appreciate having a plan. The irony is that, despite my intention to embrace God’s plan, I sometimes find myself steering my life in a direction I think is best. Can you relate?

The Easy Surrenders

Often, surrendering the big elements of life feels more manageable. We can hand over our major decisions, such as where we go to school, what job we take, or where we choose to live. These are areas where we recognize a lack of control, and it’s easier to trust that God’s hand is guiding us. But what about the smaller, everyday decisions—our actions toward family, choices of friends, hobbies we pursue, how we handle our finances, and even our attitudes? These daily choices often slip through our fingers unnoticed, but they matter just as much to our walk with God.

 The Call to Total Surrender

God desires more than just a piece of us; he seeks all of us. Revelation 3:16 reminds us, “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” We can’t ride the fence; we must consciously choose which side we are on. Giving our lives to Jesus is merely the first step in a journey of continually surrendering our will to His.

In the mundane moments of life, finding God requires intention. He wants to walk with us each step of the way, guiding us not only through the miraculous but also through the ordinary. Our invitation is to lay our entire lives lay at His feet, big and small.

Philippians 4:6-7 further illuminates this journey: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Here, we are encouraged to bring every concern to Him, reinforcing that no matter how small a decision may seem, it is all worthy of surrender.

Ask, Seek, Surrender

As we strive for a deeper relationship with God, we can ask Him directly: What do you want me to surrender? Be it our daily habits or our interactions with others, He is yearning to be integrated into every facet of our lives.

In Matthew 6:33, we find reassurance: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we prioritize God’s will in our everyday choices, everything else falls into place.

 Conclusion

Surrendering to God isn’t a one-time act; it’s a continual commitment to lay aside our desires and control. Romans 12:1 challenges us to embrace a lifestyle of living sacrifice, waking up each day with the intention to seek His will in every decision we make. Let’s put everything at His feet, trusting that in both the significant and the mundane, His plan is always the best one.

Take a moment today to reflect. What small things can you surrender to God, allowing Him to transform your life in ways you can’t yet imagine?
