The gift that Jesus has bestowed upon us is neither private nor a closely guarded secret; it is a gift meant to be shared with the world. Romans 1:16 proclaims, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” This truth serves as a foundation for our mission in a world that desperately needs to experience the love and grace of Christ.
In the face of societal decay and rampant hopelessness, we are called to disseminate an urgent message—to broadcast the love, freedom, and salvation found in Jesus Christ. People around us are searching for signs of hope. They feel unloved, uncared for, and as if they have nowhere to turn. The reality is that many do not understand who Jesus is or what it means for Him to be our coming King.
Mark 16:15 reminds us of the importance of our mission: “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” We are not alone in this endeavor; we have been gifted the Holy Spirit, who empowers us with boldness, courage, wisdom, and the right words to share the message when we need it most.
Boldness does not equate to the absence of fear or waiting for the ‘perfect moment.’ It means surrendering to the leading of the Holy Spirit—even amidst our doubts and fears. Oftentimes, the voices of apprehension creep in, causing us to hesitate in sharing our faith. We might fear judgment, ridicule, or even rejection. But remember, Christ did not die a private death. He endured persecution, humiliation, and a very public execution on the cross for you and me. What gives us the right to keep this transformative truth to ourselves?
In 1 Peter 3:15, we are instructed, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” Our lives are meant to reflect this hope and, by extension, inspire others to seek it too. We are made in God’s image to be like Him, and if He faced suffering, we should not be surprised when we encounter trials while sharing His message.
Staying silent in the face of mystery and fear is not an option. Jesus warns us in Matthew 10:33, “But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.” Are we inadvertently denying Him by living quiet, unassuming lives, keeping His love and grace confined within our hearts?
This post serves as a challenge: Ask yourself, “Am I boldly proclaiming my faith, like Paul, when he professes, ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ’?” The way you live your life and the way you actively share your faith in your daily interactions can either shed light on or conceal the truth of who Christ is.
So today, take inventory of your actions, words, and heart. What changes do you need to implement to become a bolder witness for Christ? Let us step forth, proclaiming the gospel with passion and determination, for in doing so, we embody the very heart of Jesus’ message to the world. Let us not keep Christ’s gift to ourselves, but share it freely and joyfully with all creation.
