“So if the Son sets you free, you will be really free.” – John 8:36
In a world where many people feel trapped or held captive by various circumstances—be it our bad habits, addictions, or even the hurtful words spoken over us—finding true freedom can seem like an unattainable dream. Sometimes, we allow past mistakes, particularly in relationships, to imprison us, creating a cycle of shame and regret that feels inescapable.
For me, that prison cell was an eating disorder. It rendered me a prisoner in my own life, feeling completely trapped and unable to break free for years. However, the key to unlocking this cell came from understanding my identity in Christ.
The world often tries to limit our identity and influence based on our age, background, experience, or education. But here’s the truth: in Christ, our identity is secure and rooted in Him, not in our failures or shortcomings. We are told in 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” This means that where we invite Christ into our lives, freedom follows.
I am free. I have purpose in Christ, and the chains of this world cannot hold me or limit me. I am not defined by what the world says about me or the struggles I’ve faced; rather, I am who God created me to be. In Christ, I can boldly declare: “I am free!”
Today, I invite you to consider: Are you ready to step into your freedom? Are you prepared to embrace the truth that Christ has set you free? This freedom isn’t a license to sin or a license to live recklessly. Instead, it’s an opportunity to let Christ work in and through you, empowering you to experience a life you may have never known before.
This freedom is available to break the chains of addiction, the painful words and curses from the past, the toxic thoughts that hold you captive, and yes, even the chains imposed by the enemy, Satan. Freedom is here, waiting for you to claim it.
Are you ready to step into that freedom and declare, “I am free!”? The choice is yours. Embrace the transforming power of Christ today, and watch as those chains fall away. The life you’ve always desired is yours for the taking, anchored in the peace and freedom that only Christ can provide. Let’s walk boldly into that freedom together!
