As we delve into Day 15 of our identity journey, we reflect on the incredible truth that we are intentionally made, drawing truth from Psalms 139:13-18. David writes, “Certainly, you made my mind and my heart. You wove me together in my mother’s womb. I will give you thanks because your deeds are awesome and amazing. You know me completely.”
Have you ever pondered the purpose of your existence? Perhaps you’ve felt like you were an unplanned surprise in your parents’ lives, or maybe, as a parent, you’re currently wrestling with the reality of an unexpected addition. It’s easy for the enemy to plant lies in our hearts, convincing us that we don’t belong or that our lives are mistakes. However, Psalms 139:13-18 reminds us that God forms us with intention and purpose, well before we draw our first breath.
Growing up, I marveled at my mother as she created beautiful quilts, each one an intricate masterpiece. She’d carefully choose fabrics, cut them into various shapes, and sew them together, creating patterns that would eventually become a lovely quilt top. But that was just the beginning. The quilt would then be lovingly placed in a quilting frame in my great aunt’s living room. There, with painstaking care, tiny stitches would bind the top, batting, and backing into a cohesive and stunning work of art.
This process is what I envision when I think about how God designs us. Every detail of our being is meticulously planned and crafted with precision, love, and purpose. There are no mistakes in His design. Human plans may falter, but God’s timing and blueprint are always on point. He has the amazing ability to transform our perceived blunders into blessings and powerful testimonies.
Consider this: God created every part of you—not just your outward appearance, but also your personality, emotions, and talents. He thoughtfully curated all these aspects before you were even conceived. He knew who you would become, and His love for you is unwavering.
David invites us to express our gratitude for the wonders God has done in our lives. Remember, your identity and purpose are found in Him. Who you are, when you are, and where you are at this very moment is not an accident. You are crafted on purpose, for a purpose, by the Creator of the universe, who knows you intimately.
As we embrace this truth, let us live out of the understanding that we were intentionally created for greatness. You are a testament to the artistry of God’s heart, deliberately made with immense love.
Today, let us declare: I was made intentionally. Let this affirmation inspire you to walk boldly in your purpose and to shine the light of His love in a world that yearns for authenticity.
