In a world filled with distractions and illusions of purpose, it is essential for us to recall the fundamental truth of our existence: we are created by God with a distinct purpose. This concept is intricately woven into the fabric of Scripture, providing clarity and direction in our lives.

Created in His Image

In Genesis, we find reassurance of our identity in Genesis 1:27, where it is stated, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” This verse highlights the profound reality that we are not merely products of chance, but rather, we bear the divine imprint of our Creator. However, being made in His image goes beyond mere physical resemblance; it signifies our capacity for intellect, emotion, and will. Just as God possesses these attributes, we, too, have been endowed with them.
Yet, the essence of being made in His image is much deeper. It calls us to reflect God’s nature and character in our lives. When you look into a mirror, you see your reflection. So, too, we are meant to be a reflection of God’s holiness, love, and goodness to the world around us.

Our Purpose as Reflections of Him

Colossians 1:16 asserts, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.” This passage reminds us that all creation exists for Him, including mankind. Our purpose is not just to exist but to actively reflect God’s character. He is holy, and as His creations, we are called to reflect that holiness. He invites us back into fellowship with Him, enabling us to live as reflections of a holy God. As stated in 1 Peter 1:16, “For it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’” This call to holiness is not just a command but a reminder of our identity and purpose.

Reflecting God’s Holiness Today
