Hey everyone! Welcome back to the channel! As we dive deeper into our journey of pursuing God with passion, I want to share some powerful insights from Scripture, particularly from 1 Corinthians 4:7 and Matthew 16:25.
You see, as we begin to chase after a closer relationship with God, we quickly realize there is often something we must do first: lay down what we hold dear. This can be one of the hardest things to do, can’t it? Can we really trust God to take care of our treasures, especially when it comes to the people we love?
Jesus came to save, not to destroy. In Matthew 16:25, we are reminded that when we seek to save our lives and possessions, we actually put them at risk. But what about those gifts and talents we cherish? It’s crucial to remember that everything we have ultimately belongs to God. He has loaned them to us to serve Him; we can’t claim any credit for our gifts—just like I can’t take credit for my blue eyes!
In our culture, we are conditioned to hold tightly to our possessions, thinking of them as “mine.” But when we begin to see God’s ownership, things start to change. We need to set aside our defenses and excuses before God. When we defend ourselves, we close the door to His grace. Instead, let’s let Jesus, our Advocate, speak for us. His sacrifice speaks louder than any excuses we might have.
It’s time to admit our pride and surrender everything back to God—our gifts, our talents, our money, our possessions, and yes, even our families. Ultimately, they are all His, and He is far better at caring for them than we are.
Here’s the deal: we need to insist that God remove things from our lives that hinder our relationship with Him. I mean really get specific—name them one by one. This is a holy moment; don’t take it lightly. Lay down anything you’ve been clinging to and trust it to your Creator, because it’s His in the first place.
As we step into 2025, let’s do it fresh and ready to be used by God. It’s time to get real and lay down what is not of Him, seeking forgiveness for what we may have put before Him. So, I ask you: what do you need to lay down today? Let’s dive deep together and allow God to transform us for His purpose!
